    Hey i got a big …
Hey i got a big problem with my dog and i was wondering if you had any ideas to help me with him. He’s a silky terrior/poodle mix and about 5 years old. We’ve taught him many times to go to the door when he needs to go out. He does really well untill recently, he goes every where now. This has been happening for like the past 6 months, but I haven’t been home most of the summer. He just went into the vet a month ago and he is a healthy dog. My dad is threatening to get rid of him now. Any ideas?

You need to keep an …
You need to keep an eye on him at all times of the day when he’s young. Note the time every time he wants to go. Take him out around that time and treat him right after he does his stuff and say the word ‘Do your stuff’ while he does his stuff.

    I have used this …
I have used this technique successfully with a few foster dogs (except we just hang the bell on the doorknob). HOWEVER, beware that your dog may learn that ringing the bell means you’ll let him outside–even if he doesn’t need to potty! Our 2 dogs learned quickly and started ringing the bell just to be let outside to play. We eventually just had to take the bell down.
